P systems with minimal parallelism

چکیده
A current research topic in membrane computing is to find more realistic P systems from a biological point of view, and one target in this respect is to relax the condition of using the rules in a maximally parallel way. We contribute in this paper to this issue by considering the minimal parallelism of using the rules: if at least a rule from a set of rules associated with a membrane or a region can be used, then at least one rule from that membrane or region must be used, without any other restriction (e.g., more rules can be used, but we do not care how many). Weak as it might look, this minimal parallelism still leads to universality. We first prove this for the case of symport/antiport rules. The result is obtained both for generating and accepting P systems, in the latter case also for systems working deterministically. Then, we consider P systems with active membranes, and again the usual results are obtained: universality and the possibility to solve NP-complete problems in polynomial time (by trading space for time). c © 2007 Elsevier B.V. On Modeling Intra-task Parallelism in Task-level Parallel Embedded Systems
The Sesame environment provides modeling and simulation methods and tools for the efficient design space exploration of heterogeneous embedded multimedia systems. It specifically targets the performance evaluation of embedded systems architectures in which task-level parallelism is available. In this paper, we present techniques that allow Sesame to model intra-task parallelism exploited at the...
متن کاملAbout P systems with symport/antiport
It is proved that four membranes suffice to P systems with minimal symport/antiport to generate all recursively enumerable sets of numbers. It is also proved that P systems with symport/antiport without maximal parallelism are equivalent to partially blind counter automata.

متن کاملParallélisme des nids de boucles pour l'optimisation du temps d'exécution et de la taille du code. (Nested loop parallelism to optimize execution time and code size)
The real time implementation algorithms always include nested loops which require important execution times. Thus, several nested loop parallelism techniques have been proposed with the aim of decreasing their execution times. These techniques can be classified in terms of granularity, which are the iteration level parallelism and the instruction level parallelism. In the case of the instructio...
متن کاملExploiting and-or parallelism in Prolog: The OASys computational model and abstract architecture
Different forms of parallelism have been extensively investigated over the last few years in logic programs and a number of systems have been proposed. OASys is an experimental parallel Prolog system that exploits and~or-parallelism and comprises a computational model, a compiler, an abstract machine and an emulator. OASys computational model combines the two types of parallelism considering ea...
